Click Green. Shop Clean is a national awareness campaign from Digital Business Ireland encouragng consumers to buy from businesses based in Ireland – the safer, more sustainable and fairer choice for families, and for the economy.

As online shopping accelerates, many purchases now come from loosely regulated, distance sellers outside the EU. DBI’s 2025 campaign empowers you – the consumer – to make informed decisions that prioritise safety, rights, sustainability, and a level playing field for Irish businesses.


Safer shopping

Distance-sold electronics – especially battery-powered goods – may not meet EU safety standards. Buying from retailers in Ireland ensures compliance, product safety, and peace of mind.

Stronger consumer rights

Retailers in Ireland must honour EU rules on returns, refunds and guarantees.

Distance sellers may not, often leaving consumers with no redress if something goes wrong.

A more sustainable choice

Retailers in Ireland fund national recycling and waste management schemes.

Distance sellers frequently avoid these obligations, increasing Ireland’s environmental burden.

DBI launched the Click Green, Shop Clean campaign at a Leinster House photocall on the 20th of November.

The campaign runs across digital platforms through Cyber Week and into December.
